Designed to test your child's knowledge of Key Stage 3 Maths, English and Science, these disks use the same format as the earlier Full Marks Key Stage programs, using simple games based on multiple choice answers. Each of the three disks coves 10 or 11 areas of each subject, giving the user a choice of four different games to play on each disk. Those who have used the earlier programs should be warned that there is only one new type of game in the set, which may reduce their children's involvement in the game-play, and they may prefer to look at alternative programs. The tests are designed to be used once the pupil has covered the basics of the subjects. Using them too early might be discouraging but should the field not have been covered adequately at school the software provides a potted version of the topic, which will give the student all the information they need to answer the questions. The software requires a minimum of 16MB RAM, Pentium or equivalent. --Julia Cresswell

Kids enjoy making music, particularly when they can be confident the results will be excellent. Music factory is an easy program that allows anybody to make top quality music. The program is designed to bring music composition within reach of non-musicians. It is not intended to teach music, but to allow users to 'play around' with sound, listening to different parts and trying different combinations of sound, with the aim of eventually recording their own sequences. The main focus is to have fun! This program provides riffs and rhythmic patterns which can be combined in thousands of ways from simple to complex. Any combination will always work. A variety of styles provides something for every age group. You can create music from pre-defined two-bar musical 'patterns.' Compositions are built from sequences of these patterns from all or any of the six instruments that can be in any single music set. Within a music set, the parts are designed to sound effective when put together in almost any combination. There are eight different musical styles available - blues, cheeky, reggae, spooky, salsa, waltz, techno, and the 60's. For each style there are six instruments available, and each instrument can play a number of two-bar musical patterns. You can use ready-made music Set-Ups and you can define your own Set-Ups from the instruments and patterns available in that style.
